Long time no blog
I feel like I haven't had a minute to sit down and relax. When I get a minute my mind is racing. Lots going on and more still left to be done. I still haven't finished decorating for Christmas and since it is the 23rd I don't think it is going to happen - lol.
J-man is off the wall right now - testing every boundary he can. How can a child that has no concept of Christmas be so rangy? Currently he is in the naughty spot for throwing G's walker across the room. Screaming in frustrating that he is in trouble, then banging his head against the wall, then screaming cause he has a boo boo. Ahhhhhhhh! Someone get me a egg nog latte before I explode!
J also decided after 30 minutes that G needed to wake up from her nap and proceeded to go wake her up - you can imagine how thrilled G(and me) were to have that happen. Ahh the noise, noise, noise!
Lots of fun stuff has happened though in recent weeks. But I am kind of missing my holiday spirit right now. I'll get it back and then come shower you in Christmas love...till then have fun

Hey Nurse Ratched...
Today my sister had to have another surgery (we both are inflicted with the oh so fun disease of Endometriosis) She was suppose to have surgery in November but after being held all day starving and bored they sent her home. After another month of injections she was on today's scheduled.
We have bad veins - they roll and hide when it comes to IV's. We are not lying to you Nurse Ratched. You will need to wrap our arm in a warm blanket, use a pediatric needle if possible and hold that vein down like your life depends on it. You will be given one shot where we are calm and rational - then it is a gong show so don't mess this up!!! We give these instructions to every nurse who either draws blood or gives IV's. Most follow all or part of the instructions. Occasionally you get some nut job though. Refusing to listen, usually with an eye roll (and yes I can see you roll your eyes in the reflection of the cabinet).
Today my sister got Nurse Ratched. Not only did she not listen, my sister passed out, and my drama queen mother followed suit! My sister must have had some sort of panic attack - she was yelling "No, No, No, I can't do this, I can't hear, I can't hear" Then her arm went completely rigid and she passed out. My mom, who handles crisis and her kids being hurt very badly was not impressed. The nurse told my mom this kind of reaction is common at 6am. Say what???? My mom then got woozy and had to lie down too before she hit the floor.
Later, once they had calmed down they laughed themselves silly over it. Now Marcy is home resting, doped up on pain meds. Take head those who wield a needle - be nice to us! We are not trying to piss you off or make your day harder...we just know our bodies(we've had them for a while now)
Yup

Fasting from the mac
I picked fasting form my mac. I love my mac and spend too much time with it ;)
I haven't picked when I'll give it up - I am thinking of picking a time everyday like 2-4pm etc. Then I can do some devotions but also make sure dinner is ready and my kids are having fun.
We bought the lap top so I wouldn't have to be holed up in the office but it has turned into a time waster for me. I figure a good fast would break the time waster routine.
So my challenge to you...what are you going to fast??

How to ...
Today we were driving home and I needed to keep Little G from napping. Therefore I employed the following :)
1. Sing like a loon - anything from Christmas to Twinkle Twinkle will work. Keep in mind soothing pretty voices will have the opposite effect. Sing it a bit high for your range and you'll have the perfect nails on a chalk board style needed.
2. Turn the volume up VERY suddenly on the stereo. Keep in mind the idea it to startle not deafen the child so use judgement here!
3. Employ older child to poke youngest.
4. Last but not least - lower window. At first just the sound will startle the child out of sleepy land but you may need to resort to opening all the way. This is most successful with sunlight streaming in and cold air so I recommend 2-10 degrees for proper shock and awake value.

No of course not!
So I took a few with my lap top camera - I promise to find the cord tonight!

I'm so mad!!!
I am so mad I could literally spit!
This man is sooooo delusional that he thinks that teaming up with a party that wants to split away from our country is going to help our country??????
What kind of moron uses that kind of logic?
We only had an election 6 weeks ago - Canada decided - now sit down Dion and accept that not only did you lose - you lost big. Your party doesn't even want you leading it anymore. Why would I want you leading my country!
Yup Ej is up in arms over the state of democracy around here! Maybe I'll move to the USA :) At least this time my other country elected someone who makes sense.

Good bye NaBloPoMo
Phew! Today is the last day! I am all blogged outNo one reads blogs on the weekends anyways :) So don't feel a lot of pressure to write anything interesting - LOL
Off to the side you'll see a photo of my new boots! Pretty cute eh? Gotta love it when I can wear pom poms on my boots!
Of course I bought cute boots but I have no skinny jeans to tuck into them. So I did a little side run to Bluenotes where the jeans were all 50% off (sweet!) and got myself the cute skinny jeans to go with them. I can't keep looking so 'momish' so I caved to the skinny jean fad! So next time you see a sausage walking down the street - smile and be nice to me!
The other so very UG-L-Y shot is of my face. So you can see my lovely bruise and asymmetrical face. Am I hot or what! I can't believe I am posting a photo sans make-up on my blog!
So what has blogging everyday taught me this time? Hmmmm - I am a boring person - LOL No one reads on the weekend but weekdays see a bit of traffic and if you post they will read :) I don't plan on posting everyday in December but I hope to post on most weekdays. So stick with me!
Happy December!
6 days and counting
five all purpose sprays; four wood for good, three counter sprays, two bathroom scrubs and a soy candle in winter berry!

The fifth day...
On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me five all purpose sprays; four wood for good, three counter sprays, two bathroom scrubs and a soy candle in winter berry!
Compassion
Last night I got this great idea for all these things we could do today. Then I woke up this morning and gave my head a shake...well not literally as that would still hurt :) I am tired and fuzzy and sore. Why would I want to go out with kids in tow..even if I am getting a little stir crazy. We need to do a Costco run so I think we'll do that but then we'll stay home and relax.
I had to tell Ry that I needed compassion today. He hasn't been here the last few days so he hasn't seen me being down and out. I am also doing better than I thought I would be, and I am not constantly complaining. So I don't get a lot of sympathy around here :)

On the fourth day
Back home
My face is puffy today - the whole symmetry of my face is off! I look rather funny. I have a mouthful of stitches from where they took tissue and the tooth. Overall my face feels stiff but as long as I don't smile or open my mouth too wide I fell pretty good. I am a little wiped out from the drugs.
All the chaos has effected J-man and he has been crazy today. Hopefully the weekend will calm him down. While we did stick to our routine the last few days GG and Gramps have been the ones running the show. Now I am back on duty.
Anyway I am rather tired and sleepy so I think I'll head for bed.

I made it!
I know you want to sing with me!
I am off to get the tooth out and the sinuses cleaned up - doncha just love spending $1000+ and being left with a gaping hole???

On the second day...
Putting on my big girl panties!
To top it off Ry's grandpa died on the weekend and the funeral is tomorrow...in Manitoba. So I am without a hubby for support. I am having a bit of a pity party here - sulk, sulk, sulk!
Okay - panties on...time to deal with it. My parents are going to help out tomorrow as I'll be in la-la land for most of the day. I'll be under conscious sedation - which means post op I'll be falling asleep at odd times throughout the day. Can't have my babies running around like hooligans. Well they'll do that anyways but at least they'll have a grandma to fill them with food, and make sure they go to the potty.
I'll post the second day of method later tonight and sometime tomorrow I'll post something - I am going to try for first thing as I don't want to fail at NaBloPoMo(I am sooo close to the end - and a badge for my blog)

12 Days of Christmas...method style
Stay tuned for the next 11 verses!
I know you just wanna smell winter berry - sadly scratch and sniff isn't available yet on blogger. I'll try and post photos of each item as we go. I also have several things in Winter Berry but the candles aren't one of them - I bought the oh so yummy spiced pear instead. As a side note if anyone sees the holiday collection in Canada let me know where! Shopper's has the soap in the flyer but my local store sold out in 3 days. So a holiday method hunting I go.

Boys Stink
Now as the proud mother of a boy I have discovered that there is something about boys that stinks. It isn't just reserved for those awkward teen years. It pretty much starts at birth. Boys just stink! No amount of laundry or bathing can quite remove the stink.
Thankfully the stink here is mostly kid stink. You know what I mean - kid sweat, sugar, dirt and a side of drool. I dread the day that those guy hormones kick in and the real stink starts!!

Welcome baby S
I am so glad that my deliveries were simple and easy...hmmm I don't know if easy would be the best way to put it. I don't know if anyone can ever say having a baby is easy. I should say complication free.
Welcome to the family baby S, we are so glad you are here.

NKOTB
I really wanted to go but no one I knew was a big enough fan - I should rephrase that - no one I knew well enough to ask to go with me was a big enough fan. Where is the love for Jordan, Joe(y), Donnie, Danny, and Jon? Most of my friends are either a few years older or younger than me and therefore missed the crucial NKOTB stage. 1988-1991 - great years to be 'Hangin in Tough'
So if you went I want DETAILS!!!!
Nothing like reliving being 12/13 only without the hormones, angst and catty friendships :)

The power of cute!
My kids know how to use this cute factor. Most of the time it doesn't work on me...I am immune. Yet strangers have no such reflexes.
My little imps know just when to turn it on. It is impressive really. Last week when I was at dance class Ry took both kids to the hockey game.
J-man does things like that too. He'll look at people, then snuggle into my leg and peer up at people with his big blue peepers. Give the half smile and they are as good as his.
J-man's preschool teachers all tell me how cute he is, and how they want to take him home. They are so wrapped around his little fingers!
The power of cute!

ESP - Evil Skinny People
Now thanks to being sick I have lost a few pounds - and I do have a few more pounds that I could stand to lose from a strictly health point of view - but that is a story for another day. So my poochy tummy hasn't been hanging over quite as much the last few days. It is amazing how flat your tummy gets when every single bit of food is expelled from the body in one way or another. Bring me a bikini people!
I was at my parents house yesterday to say hi to my sister. My mom patted me on the tummy and said...and I quote, "Being sick has been good for you." Say wha...? After I starred in shock for about 5 seconds she realized her mis-step and started backpedaling with the likes of,"what I mean was..., you look..., yadda, yadda, yadda."
My mother doesn't mean to be an ESP but she has no experience being anything but skeletal. With the exception of a year in Germany where she claims she ate nothing but bread, meat, and cheese(a side note here - yummy - yes please!) when she was a size 8. Why couldn't I have a round pudgy mom - that loves to bake cookies!

Daily Diet according to Little G
8:00 - bottle of milk
8:15 - goldfish cracker found under couch
8:45 - one piece of toilet paper - mom made me spit most of it out, then she got really mad...something about the toilet not being a water table
9:00 - 1/2 a piece of toast I threw most of it on the floor (gotta have snacks for later)
Snack
10:30 - find left over piece of KD stuck to leg of high chair...yum. For some reason mom is gagging as she tries to wrestle this from me.
Lunch
11:00 - noodles in a hat, maybe it is a bowl, anyway, fling a few noodles in the air at mom and big brother. Mom sure says "no" a lot. Take cup of water and hold it over head. Mix it into hair with cheese sauce hands. Try to see if ears or nose can also accept food. No luck yet.
11:15 - arch back and shriek as mom pins me into the chair to wipe away most of the cheese and water residue.
Snack
1:45 - bottle of milk
2:00 - part of a pink crayon, mom again is not too happy. It says non-toxic on it! What is her problem. Big brother gets in trouble for not putting his crayons away(hee hee).
3:00 - climb mom's leg, partly just for fun, partly cause big brother's snack looks good.
3:15 - mom hands over some snacks, I manage to pocket a few in my diaper and sweater. These come in handy later for the carpet smoosh
4:00 - pull out snack reserve and smash into carpet, mom found ones in diaper and threw away(buzz kill) but she didn't find secret sweater stash!!
Dinner
5:00 - Looks like mom is making dinner. Big brother is chanting for TV and begging for cookies. Mom looks ready to explode. Crawl over to mom's leg and pinch hard...hmmm she didn't take that too well. Find piece of toast from breakfast under fridge - show it to mom. Again she takes it away. Man she wrecks all the good stuff.
5:40 - Daddy home - chew on his shoes as he unpacks his briefcase. Note to self : Daddy doesn't like shoe chewing.
5:45 - Throw veggies at the floor, again I hear lots of "no". I am really starting to hate that word. Hmmm don't like the texture of this...spit it out in a spray. Then shove both hands in mouth to remove offending remnants. Pour milk on head and fling cutlery at the wall. Have two bites of mystery glop.
6:15 - Find yellow crayon...yum dessert. Big brother gets in trouble again for leaving crayons out...that was fun!

Better late than never
Last August as we were driving home from our Colorado trip we stopped for the night in Yakima Washington. Yakima was really hot that day(30-35 degrees). We were staying in the worst hotel ever(blame my parents for that one!) To escape the horrible lodging we went into downtown to eat at the Olive Garden. Of course there was a bit of a wait so we walked to the neighboring park. From the park I could see this.
It is a memorial to The War on Terrorism. Yakima is surrounded by dessert and from what we could see lots of training grounds that are used by the army.
I decided to walk over and get a closer look. The sky was clouding over, the sky got dark around us and a bit of a rain shower started - it was still hot hot hot out so we stood in the rain. The wind picked up as I approached the memorial. Once I got there, I read the names of what I presume are local soldiers that have died. That got me a little as there weren't a lot of names. Just a few, so I could read them.
Then the wind picked up and I heard the tinkling. I tried to figure out what the sound was. Then I saw the glint of sliver. Each soldiers dog tags were hung underneath the helmet. As the wind blew hot air around us and the storm scattered rain I cried. Knowing that those dog tags had belonged to someone. They had hug around someone's neck as they had lived and died.
I know it seems a little belated that it only connected for me when I saw the dog tags. Yet I live in a town with little to no soldiers from this generation. I know no one who is actually serving in any capacity. I realize people die in war but I never had a personal connection to any of them. I have never had a friend lose a husband/wife, son, or daughter through war. That night while waiting for dinner it became personal. I cried.

New Diet Plan
There isn't much left of me at this point. I am slowly reintroducing solids to my tummy. Everything has stayed down - five points for me. I still feel a little rough but I am hoping that the worst is over. Ry guy hasn't been feeling 100% but I think he may, through sheer determination, avoid throwing up.
Now on to something fun - shopping till we dropped. Saturday before the headache from h - e - double hockey sticks, Lisa and I headed out for a shopping run south of the border. And wooooweeee did we shop.
We hit Target(sing a song of method!!), then Lulu Lemon, and Coach(yummy!!!), up next 2 hours in Ross, finally the Seattle Premium Outlets for Children's Place, Carters, Gymboree, and Oakley. We stopped for a quick bite to eat and then shot home. We spent more money than was wise(hee hee) but we got lots of sweet deals. I think our personal fav was the Coach store where we "helped" our hubby's buy our Christmas presents. We got the most fab-u-lous red bags! I am so excited for the 25th! In the mean time I just look at the box and grin like a fool. I put a huge dent in the Christmas shopping so now I can sing some carols and enjoy.
I now have a baby girl who can use a walker - someone save me!!! She refuses to crawl any more - if the walker isn't near by she stands and screams till someone comes to hold her hands so she can walk. Crazy child - not that, that isn't expected :) Just realized I shot it sideways - sorry!

Last post on the tooth...for this week - LOL
Now I am on antibiotics to remove as much of the infection as possible. The pharmacist told me is 'may' give me a 'slight' metallic taste to my mouth. SLIGHT??? MAY??? My mouth tastes awful. It is like I am sucking on a piece of metal, and bitter like the pith of a lemon. It starts about 30 minutes after I take the pill and lasts 4 hours or so. I take one at bedtime and wake up with the funkiest morning breath :) Then I take one at lunch and spend the afternoon eating mints and chewing gum. I have to get myself some sugar free mints as otherwise I'll create more tooth decay and I think I can safely say I don't want that.
Overall I am okay with the surgery, the surgeon put me at ease. Or at least as much ease as one can have when doing this :) I am going to live in denial about the dental work until the night before - then have a last minute freak out and get on with it. It is time to put on my big girl panties and deal with.
Tomorrow I am heading south of the border and going to Target(yippee). So I'll either post before the sun is up or after the shop off. Till then...

FREAKING OUT...part 2
So I go into see Dr. W yesterday - expecting bad news. I wasn't being negative but I knew the tooth was toast. Turns out it is worse than I thought, than even the dentist thought originally.
A little background - I have been suffering from repeated sinus infections since I was about 7 months pregnant with Little G. I have had antibiotics a few times but most of the time they have been treatable with a Neti Pot and a nose spray. Every time my sinus got funky; my tooth got really sensitive. I asked about this and was told it was because the roots of our teeth are really close to our sinus cavity. Therefore inflammation in the sinuses can lead to tooth sensitivity.
I accepted that. Sadly it turns out that more was going on. I don't know what happened first but basically the infection(which eventually turned into the abscess) in my tooth, and the infection n my sinus decided to get frisky(trampy germs). So they ate through the bone between them. So my sinus and my tooth were kind of sharing a room so to speak.
So where does this leave the lover of all things dentist??? Off to see a Oral Surgeon...I got a last minute cancellation appointment so I will even get to go in today for the consultation. I will be spending a HUGE amount of money on this. I am thinking it will be to $4000-$5000 for teh implant(they'll screw a metal rod into my jaw and place a crown on top of that). So I am looking for a money tree in the backyard. So far I've only found a maple and lilac tree. It is kind of embarrassing to borrow money from your parents when you're in your 30's ;) I am hoping my extended health will cover some of my expenses so that I only have 2-3000 out of pocket.
Anway I better go roll some pennies to pay for food and gas :)
Till tomorrow my friends

I AM FREAKING OUT
I think I have an abscessed tooth. Not cool - I am so not okay with this!!!!!!!!!!!
It is on a tooth that has already been root canaled. Another uncool procedure I might add. This tooth had a lot of tooth decay - and had a HUGE filling. Then because the filling was so huge it didn't last and so then came the root canal. Of course that tooth had deformed roots which led the dentist to tell me that he wasn't sure if the root canal would work.
So here I am with the root canal not working. Since the dentist and I have already talked about this tooth I am pretty sure we are at worst case scenario right now. Which would be (get ready for it) having the tooth removed, then crowning the teeth on either side and having a bridge aka fake tooth put in. I AM SO NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!
I hate the dentist - not him as a person just the fact that this tooth has already cost me more than my college education and it isn't finished yet! Being a complete dental phobe I will be requesting a specialist referral - and taking any sedative they offer!
I called the office this morning and they tried to talk me into having my check up done - I backhanded the girl(figuratively) and told her to shut up and get me into see the dentist. I will deal with their floss Nazi another day. My file has a big sticker on it(seriously) saying that I HATE the dentist experience. Have some compassion you nit wit - I have an abscess and you are trying to talk me into more dental work? You better believe I am going to give Dr W an earful about that. One of the perks as already being marked as a nut is you can go off on them about things and it doesn't matter cause they already know you're unhinged ;)
FREAKING OUT HERE PEOPLE -MAJORLY!!!!!
Okay time to get off the ledge - as I am about to cry. Gotta get the kiddos ready and off to preschool etc. so I can go to the torture chamber. Pray for me if you get the chance because only divine intervention is going to make me a happy girl today!
**Update : So the news is worse than I thought - I will be going to a oral surgeon as this is not pretty - in the words of Dr. W "I won't even touch that" I told him I hate him, he said "Ya I know" I told him not to take it personally and he laughed at me. At least the guy knows I am crazy. I'll save the rest of the detail for tomorrow - that's part of the charm of NaBloPoMo :) I am currently having a hot chocolate with LOTS of whipping cream. Fat, sugar, and chocolate - not going to make the tooth worse but it might put me into an sugar coma so I forget this ever happened.

NaBloPoMo Day 11 - running low on ideas here
I do have a list in my head of ideas - of which I haven't used any yet but that requires effort to think and write. I should just wait to post until later today to see if I get some inspiration but I really like getting the blogging out of the way. I also find that I don't have any creative juice left after about 3pm.
Today is Remembrance Day here - as in remembering the sacrifices that many people have made for the freedoms we enjoy. I do try and spend sometime reflecting on that. My Grandma's first husband died in WWII, and my Grandpa was in the pacific. No one of the current generation has fought in a war or served in any capacity. Unless you count my mom protesting the Vietnam war - LOL.
I didn't buy a poppy this year. They always fall off my jacket and I lose them. Or one of the kids finds the pin and jab themselves so I passed them by this year. Of course now I feel guilty that I don't have one.
Ry and J-man are going to a hockey game today so G & I are trying to figure out what to do with ourselves - maybe Costco??? Go play in the Christmas decorations - Just for Running Wildly :)

A boo boo
I love the way he talks - it makes me laugh. Often if he wants to talk to you about something ie. preschool, his boo boo he will ask you the question first - prompting you about what to ask.
J : Di you have fun at pweeschoo to today?
Me: Did you have fun at preschool today?
J - Nodding his head : Show Edward today
Me : You showed Edward for show and tell?
J- nods : ajakvagl kaglerfi dfadj asdf a (bunch of gibberish with a few words thrown in like his aids name, and the word snack)
J - crying and holding his hand or foot or head : Di you got boo boo?
Me: Do you have a boo boo?
J - wide open mouth cry that nearly makes your ears ring : I got boo boo
Me : Where is the boo boo?
J: Fingay
Me : On your finger?
J nods
We don't have R's yet so words like preschool sound very cute. J-man also often drops the last letter off the word too - which frustrates his therapist but sounds pretty darn cute.

The filter
The definition around here of the filter : what keeps you from saying what's really on your mind. Such as "Your butt looks huge in that" or "Your kids are brats". There is a multitude of inappropriate things that one could say everyday and yet thanks to the filter we all have we don't tell our friends, family, co-workers the first thing that pops into our head. You may not even realize your filter is at work.
My sister in in medically induced menopause for a few months(long story). But what happens when you turn a 20 something year old woman into a 50 year old woman is you lose the filter. My sister says something that shock me. She will tell me off or insult me and not bat an eye. When she sees my expression she notices - and slaps her forehead "Sorry, my filter is broken"
Today Ker and I are going to see my Grandma, who also lost her filter(if she ever had one). We are taking bets on who she'll insult today. Last time Kerry(a size 2) was told she was big boned - LOL. So we'll see who is the target today. Of course one of the perks of being old and being nutty is you can get away with saying things like that. Last time I went I was told my kids were cute but she couldn't figure out what had happened to me. My sister and I couldn't make eye contact because we thought it was so funny. We'll see what happens today!

Feeling Creative
It's been a while since I have done much work with my craft supplies. I recently bought a Sizzix Big Shot - so I have been playing with that a lot in the last few days - it is so much fun :) I am part of a group call WOAM - Women On A Mission - we each put in $25 a month to a sum total of $275. All the girls who have yet to win the money put their name in a hat and the money in drawn. When you win you have to host everyone and show them what you got. The Mission part is that we take $30 from our 'prize' and donate it to the cause we predetermined(we are buying an education for two girls and restocking two medical clinics with World Vision) The remaining money we spend on ourselves - not our kids or our hubby. Just us - no guilt allowed.
I won first month so I got the Big Shot. Above the picture is a card I made using the scallop circle die. All images copyright StampinUp!

Hockey Ears
Hockey ears are case and point.
Mr J loves and I mean LOVES hockey. We bought season's tickets for our local team so he tends to go to one game per week. The first time we took him was a bit traumatic. Whenever a team would score a goal huge air horns would go off and fans let loose with noise makers. It is very noisy.
To an adult or other child this might be a bit loud but other than that it is finished when the noise stops. Poor J just couldn't cope and was a nervous wreck the rest of the game. One of us had to have our hands over his ears the rest of the game.
So we got this idea to put ear muffs on him - the kind they use when you mow the lawn or use loud machinery. But where to get them? Luckily my father-in-law had a small pair in his wood shop.
Now the only thing was to explain what these ear muffs did and get them on his head. Not an easy task with a super sensory child. We tried to get him to try them on before we left for the next game - yeah - that didn't work. Until wonder mom (aka me - LOL) came up with a new name for them. Thus 'hockey ears' were born. While he still doesn't want to wear them before we get there, once we are at the rink he asks for them and then sits happy as a clam.
The above picture is at GM Place when we went to go see the Canucks Open Practice. 'Hockey Ears' on :)

The secret pile-o-junk
We are lucky that it is 4 ft high so we can sit and sort to our hearts content. After about 30 minutes my noise starts to burn from the dust. Our dryer vent comes down from the main floor and then through the crawl space to the outside - and the tube that connects to the dryer is at an odd angle so it often pops off and blows dryer lint through the crawl space - lovely!
The crawl space is getting to the point where it is full - which is embarrassing to admit - well it isn't full to the edges but the center area is full. When Little G was born we lost the office so many things were packed up and shoved down there(or in my bedroom - a story for another day!)
Somethings down there are needed sporadically like summer fans. Then there are the many boxes of baby gear. We aren't sure if we are done(having babies) yet so we have boxes and boxes of boy and girl stuff. And then there is the many different items like bouncy chairs, exosaucers, swings, potties etc. etc. etc. All these items are well and good but they do take up a lot of space. If I was a rich person I would get rid of it all after each kid :) Someone should start a service where you can rent things like this. Anyway, one day all that stuff will be gone so I try not to worry about it.
The thing I worry about are the boxes I haven't unpacked from when I moved in - 4 years ago. I totally admit that I can be a hoarder. I get emotionally attached to things - which is dumb I know. I am working on it. But one thing I find that works for me is putting it away and looking at it later(when I can be objective) But now I have a lot of stuff that I need to sorted.
So tonight I went down and sorted through a few boxes - and it was really easy as I figured if I haven't missed it in the last few months(years) it is time to get rid of it. I was feeling really accomplished for me few boxes until Ry pointed out the other's waiting - spoilsport :)
Tomorrow my fabulous cousin Kerry is coming(I wrote that just for you K) So I am sure we'll have lots to blog about! Till then my fellow bloggers!

NaBloPoMo Day 4 - Voting Day
Now up here in Canada, our election is over but most are waiting to see what happens south of us. Now I'll tell you something most don't know here - I am American. I was born in Canada and have lived here most of my life but I have a parent that is American. Therefore a few years ago I officially declared my citizenship. Now for those concerned I also have my Canadian citizenship. While Dual citizenship does not exist you can hold different citizenship's independent of one another.
Back to the USA - So today is the day where US voters are going to pick who will lead them for the next 4(maybe 8) years. As half my family lives in the US and are very involved with politics I have heard lots of things about Democrats and Republicans. I am not registered to vote - I need to figure out if I can vote(not in this election but future ones). The process for registering if you don't live in the US is a bit tricky. But if I could vote in this election I would vote from Obama.
Sure there are a few things I don't agree with(like the live abortion thing that has everyone up in arms) but after 8 years of Republican rule(and lies) there is a great divide between parties. I believe Obama is able, in a way that McCain is not, to reunite people. While I probably lean more towards Republican politics in my personal views I can not stand the good ol'boys club that McCain and Bush are part of. I also think Palin was a poor choice for VP. A few more years under her belt and a LOT more experience and then she might earn my vote. But currently she is way too much "Maverick" for me. True McCain has tried to distance himself from Bush but I think the Republicans need a shake up.
And please no more Elizabeth Hasselbeck - she makes my teeth grind every time she opens her mouth(even when I agree with her!!)
I'll be watching TV today to see what happens - excitement is in the air!
Okay time to get back to Canada and my reality(two kids demanding my attention tout de suite!)

Frazzled...and it is only Monday
J-man is off to preschool today. Which normally means I put Little G down for a nap, spend sometime doing a devotion or reading my bible and then I can tidy up the house, start dinner or sit there and do nothing(only busy mom's get that). Today sadly I'll do my devotions, but then I have to start getting the house ready for another gathering.
The house is pretty clean as after G's party we cleaned up and haven't really been home. The thing I am dreading is the food. I baked and cooked enough to last me at least a month last week. I sooooo don't feel like making or putting anything else together.
I may cheat on everything and just go to the store and buy everything from veggies, to cheese and crackers and then throw it at the table and hope it comes out resembling food :) Martha has left the building people - and she's not coming back...at least till next week.

Men vs Women
First - men like to look everywhere but at the road when they are driving. They weave around in their lane until the woman in the car grips the door handle and shrieks "DITCH,DITCH,DITCH" at which point the man in question will bring the car back to the centre of the lane. Next he'll gift the woman in question with a look of pure annoyance and the occasional rebuttal of "I was no where near the ditch." HA!
Second - today at a party two children where out of control, ganging up on the other kids and hitting them on the head(making several cry) Now the mother of one or both leaned down and told them to give the crying kid a balloon to hit back(ah no - if my kid is crying back away before I smack you - but I digress). This same mother is wearing a very low cut shirt and flashing the mammalries to those of us sitting near by. I meet eyes with another parent(male parent) and we both raise out eyebrows. Me the female(for those keeping track) to the fact that this mother thinks hitting a crying child is okay as long at they have a balloon and the male parent to the fact that the ta-tas are out on display. Ry leans over and whispers in my ear "Who knew there were presents for the adults!" Just to note Ry was being sarcastic not pervy - don't want anyone to think my hubby is a perv.
Third - Ignoring the baby syndrome. While visiting with some friends, the boys(and I mean hubbies and kids) went downstairs - hockey was on doncha know. Lisa and I stayed upstairs to chat. Little G wanted to play with the boys(so she went down too) and Baby E was already sleeping for the night. Later as we are packing up it comes up that Little G got her first taste of Crown Royal. Huh??? Turns out that the little boys were playing games and the big boys were watching hockey and running interference between the little boys. During this time Little G got Ry's cup and helped herself to a drink. Oddly and perhaps scarily she liked it and they had to pry it from her hands. So much for adult supervision ;)
Last and perhaps my favourite - at G's party a friend of ours wrote on our calendar "Ry beer night" for Friday. When we saw this friend today I jokingly ribbed him about it as I found it quite funny. Later the hubbies are talking about actually getting together on Friday (hello girl movie and chocolate for me!!) Then they ended the conversation being smartypants by saying "Ej and Lisa get together like 5 times a week so I think we should be able to go out Friday." LOL - men! Gotta love 'em. We don't get together 5 times a week and when we do get together we have all four kids with us. I don't remember the last time we went and did something with no kids. So mom and kiddo coffee hour(aka two frazzled mothers keeping kids from fighting and hitting while occasionally talking about what we are making for dinner.) isn't the same as heading out to a movie and dinner with a friend.
That's all I got tonight friends - see ya tomorrow.
**PS - This is not a man bashing post - so don't leave me some narsty man hater comments either directed to me or men in general. It is only the humorous differences in the way we think that I found funny today - getting off my soap box now!

Let's Parrrrr-ty
I have eaten one too many cupcakes and am now in a state of insulin shock.
Today was Baby G's 1st birthday party(who from now on will be Little G - for those regular readers)
26 people filled my little townhouse and noshed on scones, brownie lollipops, fruit and the previously mentioned cupcakes.
There were balloons, gifts, and a bunch of sugar! The colours were pink and brown mostly in polka dots. I didn't pick a theme(like princess etc) as I figure this will be the only party that she has no opinion of! So I got my way :)
After everyone left I collapsed on the couch and survived the damage. Since most of the kids had played in J-man's room there was little mess from toys but oh the food clean up! So off the couch I got and packed up the plates, napkins and cups into garbage bags.
NaBloPoMo

If you are looking at my title and shaking your head - I have not lost my mind...yet.
I have been a very lazy blogger - many, many excuses later I decided I needed a kick in the blogger tooshy. So I signed up for National Blog Post Month. That means that everyday I have to post. No excuses!
So here I am on day one - I have no idea what I am going to write about for the next few weeks so bare with me.

Can I blame my mac?
or post...insert sheepish smile here!
I think about blogging lots but I just don't get to it. Sometimes I get up here to the PC and go through my favourites. Obviously I need to start posting more.
Is it just me or has Facebook taken the world of blogging by storm? Quite a few of the blogs I used to read were deleted as their owners went Facebook crazy.
I keep tabs on some friends by reading their blogs or facebook profiles, yet I never hear from them in 'real life'. So I have been pondering if they are even really my friends. It is one thing if I never hung out with you and still don't. But if I used to be a friend and now only know about things because I read about it; is that really friendship??
I have a few friends where I have noticed that if I don't initiate something I don't hear from them. It got on my nerves for a bit and then I just released it. So I don't phone, or email them anymore. Some people are only friends with people who they see often or are exactly the same as them. Me I like a little diversity. You don't have to work with me, got to my church or for that matter go to church, you don't even have to live in the same town. If I think you are a fun person I will make an effort. Some people not so much and that is okay. I know I probably sound bitter but I am not...really I am not. Once I let go of the friends who didn't want me I have found so many friends who do. They are crazy and all over the map.
It is kind of freeing to stop trying to make myself fit in with others. I don't just march to my own drum - I've got a whole band. I don't know if it that I am getting older and therefore mature(as if I could ever get to mature - LOL) but I am caring less and less about what others think and embracing me for me. I AM okay just the way I am. You either love me or you don't and it is okay if you don't. I am okay if you don't - heck I may not love you either :)
Enough contemplation - time to sleep! Toodles!

Today has been brought to you by the letter V and the number 14
Here in the great country of Canada we will be heading to the polls on October 14th. Write it on your calendar. If you can't make that day(no excuses like I need to wash my hair!!) there are lots of advanced polling stations open already.
Voting is an important right and one everyone should exercise. While men have almost always had the right to vote women have not. Some pretty fabulous ladies got out there and campaigned for your right to put an X in a box. They were ridiculed, and condescended to. Yet they stuck to it. It was 1919 when Canada made the right to vote for women official. Provinces followed behind with the exception of Quebec that didn't allow women to vote until 1940!!!!!
Some middle eastern countries still do not allow women to vote, even though it is considered a right(since 1979) by the UN under the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women.
There is no excuse for not voting - it takes no more than a few minutes; after all how hard is it to colour in a circle or mark and X. 76% of Canadians vote - which is better than the US(only 50%) but much less than Malta or Austria that are above 90%.
Let your voice be heard on elections day. It doesn't take more than a few minutes to Google the parties and read what they stand for. If you can take the time to read a blog you can take the time to learn about the candidates. If you don't vote - no complaining about the government. No vote, no voice!

Method Monday - Babies and Kids
Every night around 7 pm each kid gets a bath. After the preliminary soak - to loosen the mum mum and cheerios, out comes the method baby wash. With the pleasant scent of mallow and rice milk it cleans Baby G's little chubby body - and it also acts as a shampoo. One of my favourite things about the baby wash is the cap acts like a cup/bucket for helping to rinse them off. There is a hole on one side that has two purposes - #1 it makes getting the cap off easier and helps dry out the bottle by giving it some air flow should your little angle pull the bottle into the bath with them and # 2 you can make a spout - water control is very important when rinsing their hair. Tear free or not kids get awfully ticked off when you poor water over their face - yes we have learned that the hard way. Once dried off and ready for bed - is their anything better than a little cuddle with a sleepy, cuddly baby that smells good??? And not that horrible fake baby powder scent that seems to be everywhere.
J-man, being a bit older gets a scrub-a-dub-dub with the fuzzy peach body wash for kids. Method gets props for a cute bottle - it looks a little like our Olympic mascots. It has a squeeze function bottle - ie. you squeeze the bottle and soap comes out the bottom. Very cool! I haven't had the bottle leak but I wouldn't travel with it(unless you keep the plug that come in it at the store) or let kids play with it, unless you like trying to clean half a bottle of kid wash out of your hallway carpet. The scent smells good in the bath and at bed time but my manly 3 year old doesn't smell fruity the next day on the play ground. There was also the green apple scent, which I didn't buy. Firstly because someone had tried to open the green apple and proceeded to get it all over the other green apple bottles on the shelf. Too much clean up for this traveller. And secondly green apple scent brings back a flash back of grade 8 (Salon Selective hair spray anyone??? Tease, spray, dry with hair dryer, spray, tease, and final spray! Skyscraper bangs complete.) Although I did like the method scent - it did not smell like my former favouite hair spray(just to clarify) - it is just the idea of green apple anything.
So out of 10 I would give the babywash a 9 (one point docked from not being in Canada)
and the kids wash an 8 (one point for not being in Canada and one for not being travel friendly).
Thats all I got for you tonight - I will try and take a photo of the bottles for you tomorrow.

Uninspired
I haven't blogged, or done anything creative in about 2 months. Any other moms out there find that their creativity dries up when they get no down or relax time?? I long to break out my card supplies and make something but #1 there doesn't seem to be enough time in the day and #2 if I do have 5 minutes I am too exhausted to move...let alone make another mess to clean up.
J-man goes to preschool 3 afternoons a week starting next week so I am hopeful that it will give me the much needed time to regroup and maybe feel a creative spurt come on.
I have been really remiss in documenting our trip - and I am already forgetting things. I have added a few photos to this post of some of the fun we had.
J-man is going through a hit his sister phase - he is constantly smacking, kicking and even tried to bite her head yesterday. I sure hope this phase is short lived...or I hope Georgie learns to fight back ;-) I called my sister to apologize for all the hitting, kicking and biting I inflicted upon her in our childhood.
I will post about Method on Monday - kids line this coming week and bathroom line the next week

Look at me(I'm Sandra D)
I feel so special...so Sally Fields(you like me, you really like me!)
Definitely a good way to start Wednesday!
Also a reminder that I haven't done a review on anything in quite a while...and I have been one busy girl in the Target!! I have purchased several of the baby/kid line products and also have the complete bathroom line so it is up to you(or the 2 people who read my blog these days!) Which one - baby/kids or bathroom line?? First comment wins the draw!

Re-entry
I am back home and loving having my own space and especially my own bed. When you plan a holiday you are so excited to go. The at about day 10 I crave home. My own space where everything is mine!
Re-entry as my family calls it. Getting everything back to normal. Ahhh I think I need another holiday. Getting back to cooking and cleaning rather than eating out and having someone else look after the towels and bedding. The kids are used to people playing with them constantly and J-man is used to being spoiled by the grandparents and aunties. We have had a few tantrums to celebrate our home coming. G is trying to figure out when nap time is and how to fall asleep when she is on her own in a crib rather than a car seat or someones arms.
I am up to my armpits in laundry and chaos. Ry goes back to work tomorrow and I will have to start finding my rhythm again as a mom. Yikes - they will out number me again!
For those following our travels - I am sorry that I haven't posted much. Tomorrow I am going to spend an hour getting some of it documented so look for another post sometime in the afternoon. I have hundreds of photos to go through - remember when we had film cameras and taking 3 rolls on vacation seemed like sooo much?

Bond with this???
Yes - too much alcohol, too much fat, too much chocolate(okay bad example). You get the drift. But can you have too much family?
I am currently on vacation with the entire family. And I mean entire. Not a man, woman or child was left behind. Children, spouses and significant others were dragged, some against their will up to the mountains of Colorado. We have divided up into 3 living units and the tensions are high after 4 days of all this family fun(insert sarcastic tone here).
Now the question isn't about loving our family members, as that is a given. Once you enter into the "sisterhood" it is like a contract with no escape clause. Which has its wonderful moments and then there are the moments where you are one minute away from packing up your clothes and heading to Boise!
Some people can be around their families all the time and never want to back hand them - this group not so much. Perhaps it is because we are all so different. We are all diverse in our beliefs, life goals, ethics and morals. While this can lead to some interesting conversations it can also result in some rather cranky people after a few days.
So perhaps it isn't too much it is just too close. My darling, patient as a saint, husband has already said "next time we get our own unit" So that is the plan! Love from a distance! Where everyone has their own time out corner!
