Oh my...I am getting OLD!

Signs that I am getting old

  1. A push up bra isn’t just for special occasions. The girls need a little help in the right direction
  2. My husband wears wool socks and slippers…when he is wearing shorts.
  3. I no longer recognize any music on Much Music or The Beat
  4. Sprouted grain bread is in my freezer because I bought it not because my mother thought I should try it.
  5. I consider adding All Bran Buds to my cereal
  6. Staying up past midnight leaves me with a hang over worse that 4 margaritas
  7. When I say I am bleaching my hair – it its not the hair on the top of my head
  8. Someone addresses me as Ma’am
  9. The size small is no longer even an option!

And last but not least

10. Random black hairs grow out of the strangest places – toes, chin(s), and neck (I know mom - deny deny deny)

Bang Bang

Guns for God - at least that is what my mother called it. On Friday night a bunch of girls from church went to the range and shot 9mm somethings anda 40 caliber somethinorother. Below is me looking like a little old lady aiming the gun. Can't you just hear me yelling "Stop of I'll shoot your *$&%@# head off!" Don't mess with me! It was a little scary. Luckily everyone followed the rules and the only things getting shot were the targets. Our instructors were very patient with us - of course no one was going to mess with the one instructor - he had fangs and I mean blood sucking, dracula FANGS - obviously he had them put in. I never got the courage to ask him what was the deal with them!

The New Do

While it is still a work in progress here are some day 2 shots of the big hair cut. I need some hair products and a few days but then I'll be back to a pro with short hair. I may get it thinned a bit more as I have a lot of hair(don't look too closely at the eyebrows in need of a wax). What do you think? Be kind! Posted by Picasa

The Forecast Says SUNSHINE

Weather Canada is saying SUN for the weekend. No POP 30%, no showers, cloud or rain. I am jumping and dancing like a gospel choir. I am shakin my groove thing! Halleluiah, the solar panels will be charged up. I may actually want to go outside and (gasp) work in the yard. Oh say its not so! Ryan will wash the cars; Jack will squint into the sky trying to figure out what that big bright orb in the sky is! We could even power wash the patio and get out the lawn furniture. Who am I kidding – I’ll probably sit in a chair and watch as Ryan washes the cars (occasionally spraying him with the hose for good measure)

I have cut all my hair off!!

I'll post a pic in a few days when I have gotten good at making it work( as the first few days of a new do are never good!) Jack also got a bit of a trim - he looks a bit like Jim Carey in Dumb & Dumber. I'll be thinning out a few bits to get rid of this look!

This is what Jack did to his Easter Mr. Potato Head. It is amazing what a 10 month old can do in 30 seconds! Posted by Picasa

Hoppy Easter

Not much is happening around here. Spent the weekend wallowing in self pity as there was no turkey (or ham) and no family gathering. Marisa, my dear sister, has left us for the greener pasture of Maryland. It seems that when she moved away she took with her the families desire to slave away over a dead bird carcass. Alas, but I am still here I cry to my mother!

Cooking a huge feast like this is a lot of work. So as I am the one who wants it I have even offered to cook it all. But no my parents aren’t interested. Maybe it is because I am a Christian and my parents are not (or are at the very least non practicing Christians). After all Easter is rather significant to the Christian faith. Sometimes it feels like my parents are purposely trying to take away the meaning from any holidays relating to Christ just to spite me.

If my parents ever get around to reading my blog I am going to be up the creek without a paddle. Oh and to top off the depression of the weekend Marisa told me today that she probably won’t make it back in August as she had thought. So now the next time I’ll see her will hopefully be Christmas. I am off to go eat a bunch of my chocolate bunny – perhaps that will make me feel happy again

Diaper Fun

I grew up surrounded by females. My poor father was so outnumbered. Even our pets were female (until Harry and Archie). So when I gave birth to a son I knew I was in for a few surprises. There are many things that motherhood has taught me about boys. Most recently (and not surprising) – they love their penis’! Jack loves nothing more than to grab himself. The minute the diaper is off the hands just go there. When he first discovered this part of his anatomy he would give it a quick grab – yup still there and then go on to other things like pulling a sock off his foot. Now it is his favorite thing. When he is in the tub there are times when I think it will just pop right off because he is grabbing it so hard. Of course the funny part is that he laughs as he grabs himself.

Today he went for the grab as I was changing a rather nasty diaper. I am holding his ankles and fending off grab attempts with one arm and trying to use the wipe with the other. It is no use – he is in there. Poop everywhere. So now I am trying to keep his hands out of his mouth and off his clothes. I grab a fresh wipe to put under him so I don’t get poop on the change table, grab another wipe to clean his hands, grab another wipe to finish the first job. Oh no, the hands are back, okay grab another wipe to clean his hands, get the diaper on quick. Ahhh there is poop on his leg. Wipe it off and get these pants on quick. It was a 6 wipe change – almost a record around here. Of course to top it off the genie bag was out so when I pushed the diaper and wipes in the liner fell through too…I left it for Ryan to change when he got home.

Ryan or Sponge Bob?

I love my hubby but sometimes I wish we had separate beds! Yesterday night I couldn’t sleep. I am flipping and flopping around in bed. I am creating lists of things that need to be done, cars I’d like to buy, things I can blog about, I even counted backwards from 100 to 1.

Just as I find a comfortable position, Ryan rolls over jabs me with his elbow and huffs a big stinky breath right in my face. Ewwwwwwww! Then he starts this loud breathing through his nose, and snaps his teeth together. Huff, snap, snap, huff, snap, snap! I kick him, he rolls over. Ahhh, peace at last. Okay get comfortable again. He rolls back – now he is breathing right onto my face. I hate that warm stale air wafting over my face. So I poke, kick, and annoy him until he moves – he is still totally alseep. A few minutes late he is snoring – so I turn on the light and read for awhile.

At 2:30am I turn the light off, the snoring has stopped, and teeth snapping is gone, even the breathing is quiet. I get nice and comfy and then the elbow jabs out and the leg wings over. After 7 years of being married shouldn’t he know which side of the bed is mine??? Do I need to draw a line on our bedding so he knows? When it is time to sleep there is no crossing the line!

I finally get comfortable, and prop a spare pillow between us – to keep the breath on his side and to protect me from any more assaulting limbs. I start to ponder whether my grandparents have the right idea with 2 twin beds. There would be no breathing in my face, no elbow jabs to the head or ribs, no kicks in the leg, just my space. Then I thought about winter – where am I going to warm my cold toes (okay frigid toes)?? Would I crawl into his bed if I had a bad dream? Have you seen the bedding for twin size? Everything is cartoons – do I really want Dora or Sponge Bob on my bed??

So Sponge Bob is out and Ryan gets to stay. Maybe a king size would work better???

Why I have 2 blogs

So you ask why on earth do I need 2 blogs?

Well J's blog is about him and while he is a major part of my life I do have other things going on... really I do!

The second thing is my family and friends who are checking on J don't really want to know about what I am doing. That and they already know what's up with me

The last reason is I don't want to have to worry about editing my comments. I don't want to be complaining about PMS on my son's blog!

Am I really crazy?(as the name implies)

No - well maybe a little. Normal is not a word that describes me. After years of trying to be normal I am at last accepting that I am a few sandwhiches short of a picnic. I am weird - not in the "I dye my hair pink and pierce my tongue" way but more of "I grew up in a strange hippy town" kinda way. Doesn't everyone grow up in a log cabin and have friends who live in tree houses? No??

Anyway, welcome to my blog,

E
