Oh the flippin drama
On a happier note L and I (and hubby's) are going out for dinner sans kiddos. I am looking forward to a meal without cheerios flying around. We're heading to Milestone"s - can you say Bellini!

Flying
Denver is surrounded by mountains which makes for bumpy take offs and landings. Sadly I have experienced more than one as I have family on the US East coast. Most flights (at least back then) used to stop in Denver.
Did you know – that a plane can bunny hop down the runway or that the ceiling panels in a plane can fall out and smack people in the head if the landing is particularly hard???? The final straw was flying out of Denver after my honeymoon (in Vail Colorado) There was a thunder storm that we had to fly through (not around!!!) So the take off was pretty bumpy. The plane is jostling to and fro – so bumpy that the flight attendants are sitting strapped in! Now if you ever want to know if things are not good – look at the staff!
I am reading a book trying to remain calm. The lady beside me is gripping onto her seat. Now the fun really began. We started doing dives to get out of the turbulence. The problem here is that the Captain never mentioned he was going to do this before he started! Finally after a few dives he comes over the intercom and says they are trying different altitudes to try and find a pocket of calm air (no really?? I thought we were on a roller coaster!) But since they haven’t been successful they are going to do some steep dives as they needed (I never want to hear a pilot say this) to get out of the storm.
So the other dives seem like child’s play compared to this one. The plane is rattling (it is a DC-10 – big plane). It is diving and shaking so bad that the overhead compartments are coming open and things are flying through the cabin. And that is the beginning of my lack of desire to fly. Once we got some good air the rest of the flight was fairly uneventful. I got off the plane in Seattle and kissed the ground!
This rather long post leads to our trip to Calgary – not too bumpy going there but BUMPY on the way back. I asked the flight attendant if we’d have a smooth flight and she looked at me a little funny. “Do you want the truth?” She asked ever so sweetly. “Yes.” I replied. “It is spring time in the Rockies, there are no smooth flights but so far there have been no reports of bad turbulence.” was the reply. So the flight back wasn’t exactly fun but as I was prepared it didn’t bother me too much. I still sat stiff as a board in my seat, but was actually pretty calm.
So if you are ever on a flight and see a person looking green in the seat a few aisles down – take pity on them. It could just be me!
Hip Hip Hooray
The zoo staff warned us that there had been no back door action yet so we made sure to stand back!

Back at work!
So after work I rush to my car. Rather than lower the windows, attach the face plate, and get comfy, I strapped on the seat belt and was several sweaty blocks before I got the a/c on. I was going to rescue my baby who must be frantic by now!!! I pull up in front of the house. Race to the door (always remove the seat belt before trying to exit the car!) A & J met me at the door. I hold my arms out (sure he is going to leap into them). Instead he looks behind A's shoulder toward the family room. A hands him to me - do I get a cuddle?? Nope he pushes away. He wants to go back to finish dancing with A & the Wiggles (Australian group that is ANNOYING). Apparently he had napped well, ate well and been really happy!
So I am thrilled that my J loves his sitter, that he loves her grandchildren, that he was okay with me being gone. But I am crushed that he doesn't seem to miss his mama. I should focus on the positive though - that he is happy and content in daycare and that makes it easier for me to continue working.

Job anyone???
So today I went in - had a meeting at 10. Found out there is no $$$ to pay me so I no longer have that job. I am a bit peeved as this throws a monkey wrench into my plans and my bank account. So I am going to try and find a new job. One that I love and an employer who values me. The thing that really gets me is they just hired another person. So they have enough money for that but not enough fo me. I feel under valued and misunderstood.
The mature adult in me knows that talking bad about them will not help but I really want to yell and scream at them for taking away a job that I loved. For thinking that what I do is of so little value that if no one is there it will be okay. They think they'll find a volunteer to do what I do. Perhaps they will, perhaps they won't. I want to wish them the best but tonight I am having a pity party . No happy wishes from me tonight. I have given so much more than time to this place. While I don't regret that I have given I regret that what I gave was not treated with respect. Tomorrow I go back to my job that I hate. Maybe I will love it now. Maybe it will still be miserable for me. Either way I am looking for another job amd a renewed outlook. Anyone know where one gets an attitude adjustment?

When you’re driving in a Chevy and your pants are getting heavy…diarrhea
It’s official. I have joined the Mom’s club. Pregnancy got me the application, labor, got me the interview. So what got me in the door…a baby with stomach flu! I have smugly sat for the last 10 ½ months watching everyone else’s kids get sick while mine was healthy. Sure the occasional runny nose or cough but nothing worth a doctors visit. Well this week that has all changed. On Tuesday we had a bit of vomiting in the afternoon (no surprise as J barfs all the time!) but it was a bit more than normal but nothing that I was worried about. Next he barfed at Cobs – more embarrassing for me than worrisome.
Then we fed him dinner (BIG mistake) he gave us a substantial vomit after that. So now R and I are thinking maybe his tummy is a little upset (DUH!) So I offered him a little piece of bread (what was I thinking???) He ate it then looked at me a little funny. It was like slow mo – I pushed the high chair away from the table, the barf flew from J’s little body. I felt it splatter on my toes. I look down (crap my new shoes) the floor under the table was being shellacked with vomit. The high chair was covered, J was covered, the floor was covered and it just kept coming.
We got several more episodes that night (got to change the crib and J once.) Then the diarrhea hit. We have changed bedding; J and I have changed clothes several times today. I went to the doctor – I was told “Yeah babies do this. It will probably last another 24 hours.” WHAT!!!! Sorry, no way. I want a second opinion. Cranky baby, poop encrusted clothes, laundry everywhere – I AM DONE! But it was not to be - I got home from the doctor – round 5 – another bath for J, more laundry for me. R has him somewhere in the house and I am going to go clean the floor under his exosaucer-like thing as poo shot out his pant leg and all over the floor. The glamour of motherhood – and we only get one day of celebration. Happy Mother’s Day!

I'll write details of the fun flights later(when I have recovered from the trauma) I don't have much time to write anythign now as J is sleeping and I have soooo much to do before I go back to work next Monday(another post for later)

Guilty Pleasures
I love TV – sad I know but I really like watching TV. My favorite…HGTV – Right now I am into the Handyman Superstar challenge; along with my usual favorites of House Hunters, Design Inc, Selling Houses, and Neat. Of course up in those high channels (at least with Satellite) there are some neighboring channels that have got me hooked. My latest discovery – Life’s Project Catwalk. Not the American one but the British one with Elizabeth Hurley. I love it! In fact I have even watched a rerun later in the week. How sad is that! It is soooooo much better than Top Model. I can’t stand Tyra’s overly dramatic “who will be (pause for dramatic effect)…
